Michael J. Williams

Mike Williams was appointed as the Department of Justice’s Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Human Resources and Administration and Chief Human Capital Officer on June 18, 2023. Mr. Williams oversees Human Resources; Security and Emergency Planning; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility; and the Equal Employment Opportunity Staff. In addition, he provides oversight of the Justice Library and the Consolidated Executive Office.

Mike Williams is a member of the Senior Executive Service and has a diverse background in human resources management. Prior to his current role, Mr. Williams served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at the Executive Office for United States Attorneys, where he provided Human Resources, Security and Emergency Management, and Employee Assistance Program policy and operational oversight to the 93 United States Attorneys’ Offices located throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Marianas Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U. S. Virgin Islands. Prior to joining DOJ, Mr. Williams served as the Director of Hiring Reform and Staffing Policy at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he led several Human Capital initiatives within DHS, as well as providing leadership on several interagency and legislative initiatives. He also served as the Chief of Human Capital for the Commission and Boards Services at the General Services Administration, as well as holding a variety of human resources positions within the Departments of the Air Force, Army, and Navy. Mr. Williams is a graduate of Delaware State University.
